Caustic soda (lye)

Caustic soda (lye, aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide, NaOH) is a strong inorganic alkali with very high pH, fully soluble in water and supplied ready for direct dosing in industrial and municipal processes. Typical commercial concentrations range from about 25% to 50% NaOH, enabling precise pH control, efficient acid neutralization and rapid breakdown of fats, proteins and other organic deposits. Due to its liquid form, lye is easily integrated into automated dosing and control systems across home care and industrial cleaning production, metallurgy and mining, oil and gas, paper and textile manufacturing, and water treatment plants.

Applications In The Industry

Household chemicals industry

Caustic soda lye is a key alkaline ingredient in liquid drain openers, oven cleaners, heavy‑duty degreasers and certain liquid soaps. The liquid form allows accurate metering on production lines, easy blending with surfactants and additives and consistent product quality. For home care manufacturers, lye provides high cleaning performance with good control over viscosity, stability and overall formulation profile.


Industrial cleaning industry

In industrial cleaning, lye is used to prepare CIP solutions, foams and wash baths for degreasing and removing protein and carbonaceous soils from equipment, tanks, pipelines and floors. In the paper industry, caustic soda lye is a primary reagent in kraft pulping, chemical treatment and partial bleaching of pulp.
